I have a 2004 base model with standard brakes.  Is there a piston
retractor screw on the front calipers, or do I just press the piston
back into the caliper?

Push them in.  The rear brakes are only strange because of the need to
include a parking brake.

just press the piston back in, using large channel lock pliers helps, or a
manual vise
