Imprint in Plastic Window

I have a window protector for my '97 Miata and it has worked well. Last
week, I let a friend borrow the car and when he put the top down, he put
the window ON the protector instead of IN the protector. My window now
has four vertical imprints from the leather cover. I've tried Blue Magic
scratch remover and polisher, which I've used on the window with good
success, a hair dryer to heat the window where the imprints are to rub
them out, and letting the car sit in the sun with the window in the
protector with books on top to try to iron the imprints out. While the
last option, seemed to dull the imprints a little, they are still there.
Does anyone have any other ideas on what to try here? Thanks in advance
for any help.

First and most important, new friend.

Second and almost equally important, NEVER *E*V*E*R* LOAN A CAR to
anyone!  If you do, prepare to accept unlimited damage which the
borrower will refuse to pay for!  You got of lucky that's all that
happened, it cost me much more to learn to never loan a car.

Third, see if the imprints will fade with time.

I guess that's your choice.  I value my friends more than my
car.

Are there really people who value their car more than their
friends and family?

That's why I have insurance.

They probably will.

A real friend wouldn't have asked so I refer you back to the first
item.

Apparently so.

Not me, and people call me a cynic. Come on down to Austin and the keys
are your's, man. As long as I am not going anywhere that day.

If someone borrows and wrecks my car, I am far more worried about the
condition of the person than the car. I have fixed and replaced vehicles
before, but have never had much luck with repairing or replacing people.

good advise on not loaning your car.
being a "good guy" cost me my Mercedes 300E.
It was totaled.

Cost me a huge towing bill, repair bill and a "friend".  I loaned my
car and somehow he snapped an axle.  He left the car where it was and
walked back.  I had to call a tow truck, pay for repairs and never even
got a thank you, let alone any offer to help pay...

That was the end of me loaning my car to anyone, ever.

You didn't have insurance?
~AlicGinnis~ - 21 Jul 2008 04:29 GMT
No, didn't have collision.  Had some liability.  Luckily no other car was
involed.  Crashed into bridge abutment.
Was also stuck with hospital bills, towing bills, and storage bills.  I'll
never lend a car out again.

Not for towing or repairs, only ninimum liability, property damage,
etc.  That was in my college days when adding to the cost of the policy
wasn't an option.

I wonder if I meant "minimum"?  My fingers don't seem to be spell
checking today.
