It's quite possible the cv boots are split open .... if they have been split
open for a while you are better off replacing the axle with a rebuilt unit
... the cv joint could be damaged ...... If you were to do the job yourself
it may be worth the bother to remove the axle & boot and examine the joint
and replace only the boot if the joint checked ok .....  If you are paying
someone to do it I would just replace the axle with a rebuilt unit with
lifetime warranty .....that way you won't be taking a chance on paying
someone twice ..... once to replace the boot ... then later the complete
axle  ... when you said axles front and back I would think you mean right
and left as there is no rear axle .....  The price you quoted sounds average
....  I would check on the warranty they offer on the axles ...  get
lifetime  !! If you are looking for signs your cv joints may be worn now ...
they will make an audible snap or click noise when accelerating with the
wheel turned fairly sharp at low speeds .... as they wear more the sounds
get louder and easier to produce ....

Thanks for your quick responce Dooker, Appreciate the info Greatly!

What kind of damage can be done if starts to make noise? Is it something
that needs immediate attention if no noise is there and boots are barely
split and its ina warm climate and garaged.

No noises yet but the boot is split been split on front for a bit but still
no noises, the oild place now . I hope it can go another month with light
use whiile we wait to trade in car!

if you arent going to be replacing the boot and  you are going to simply
replace the whole axle it doesnt really matter how long you wait to replace
them..  the noises will eventually get very loud and annoying after a few
months if the cv joints get alot of dirt and possibly start to rust, may
affect driving and gas mileage at this point..   a friend of mine had his cv
boots break open a few months ago, he is going to replace the whole axle
once the weather gets warm so he has just left them, the noises havent
gotten worse yet, even with all the salt and dirt on the roads in winter
(boots have been broken for about 4-6 months)..
