Had some body work on my 2000 Protege. Now as the engine temperature rises,
the drivers side fan starts up alone when the car is idling. I thought the
passenger side (small) fan is supposed to cut in first. Is this right? If
so, I need to get the electrical connection to the passenger side fan
checked for a bad connection.
Would also appreciate recommendation for a good inexpensive service manual.

Never mind. I found out that the small fan is associated with the air
conditioning and cuts in when the compressor comes on. Since I had an air
conditioning problem (pressure switch was disconnected) the fan was not
operating.
