Hi

I have a problem with my tribute - from the pedal well i can hear a hissing
noise - looking underneath - there is a rubber gasket that is supposed to
fit where the sterring column is - this has come off - but not sure whether
that is the problem or not - applying the break hard, causes the noise to
stop but in motion with foot off the break
continues to hiss. Any ideas anyone as to the cause and how I can remedy
this ...

Seems like the power break vacuum assist. If it's leaking, it will need to be
replaced. Usually, but not always, with a master brake cylinder as well.
