Was there any symptom the transmission may be developing problem prior
to this?  If not AND the car is equipped with kick-down switch (check
under the gas pedal), the switch may be shorted/stuck.

What color is the tranny fluid? Red or brown? Does it smell burnt?
How often was the filter and fluid checked/changed?

It oculd just be low fluid, that'll do it too.

I would have the tranny serviced by MB tranny specialist only.... not AAMCO,
LeeMyle, Cottman, etc... only the tranny specialist who works on MB only or
euro tranny shop only. Seems to be governor adjustment problem or tranny
main pump failure. Only diagnostic pressure test can tell.
