Hi all,
Have a prob with my "new" 500 sel.
Its a 1984 and had been sitting awhile,
it runs good but has a poor idle doesn't smooth out till about 800 rpm, and
it also has been blowing black smoke, altho I didn't burn a drop of oil from
ny to tx.
I think the gas may be too rich, and I need a vacuum diagram for the
breather and valve vacuum lines.
I am missing a line on the cold start valve, and I think oil is coming out
of somewhere and going down the injector throttle via the breather .
any and all help appreciated , oil pressure is 4 bars, down to about 2 when
it is at 500 rpm's.
Thanks ahead,
Jim

Hi all,
I worked on the car a little more today , so can add a little info.
The only way I can get the car to run is to pull the vaccum line off the
intake manifold where it goes to the
cold start valve and also the little dashpod like valve in the corner there
, I am not sure what that is called.
It is still blowing black carbon out and I pulled and am changing the plugs
and they are all carboned up.
The vacuum line on the manifold must have been disconnected all along, or I
don't think I could have driven it all the way here from jersey as it runs
so bad with it off.
Thanks,
Jim

Do yourself a favor and get a factory service manual on CD off ebay. You
will need alot of info.
That device you are referring to is called warm up regulator. It also act
like fuel enrichment for full throttle condition.
Cold start valve is on the driver side in the front that lone injector up in
the air with one wire harness on it.
