The passenger side front parking lamp (in the same housing as the hi
beam) in my '98 E320 needs to be replaced. Is it a simple matter of
finding out how to un-spring the clips? Or must the air cowl just
behind the housing also be removed? Any other hints or recommendations
are also appreciated.
Thanks.

Pretty simple, Frank.  Yes, the large oval hatch to the rear housing
needs to
be unlatched (two wire retainers).  if your hands are tiny and you're
bendable
like Gumby, you may be able to finesse the fitting loose.

Fortuantely with your model year, removal of the headlight is a 10 min
job
at most and you can easily access the bulb fixture that way as
well.....
and with lots more maneuverability.  The bulb should be an H6W bayo
fitting.
