Hi have any of you experienced week rear or broken springs on this or
other low mileage Mercs and particularly in the UK?

I have just had my second rear spring renewed on my 02 plate "C" Class
with only 45,000 miles on the clock.  The first was renewed Aug 05 on
the off side rear (R/H/R) and the second today on the near side rear
(L/H/R).

Also in that time the spring price has gone from £27.00 to £40.00,
whilst the total labour bill has gone up just £6.00.

Sorry that should read "weak or broken rear springs"

Do you refer to springs or shock absorbers? Rear springs will weaken or
break only if absorbers are bad or if you are driving cows in the trunk
regularly. Oh yes, or 5 persons + baggage on top  down to Istanbul.

Haven't had any cows in the trunk or been to Istanbul or large amounts
of luggage that is why I am asking the question, to see if this a known
fault or maybe that MB have got the original spec wrong for the springs.

The springs were replaced by the MB dealership and if there was anything
wrong with the shock absorbers they would have said.  Anyway they have
passed the bounce check.
