I am trying to filter it out by going to Tools/Message Rules and adjusting
settings to delete all messages with MI5 in the Subject. ( I use Outlook
Express for email and Newsgroups)

It might be easier to do the filtering with a program/application that is
better designed to news than is OE. Filtering the netkooks can be a never
ending task. I can't really advise you how to go about doing it in OE
mainly because I haven't used it in about 8 years.
Thunderbird can do filtering a little more easily if you want a combined
email/news client. Xnews is considered to be one of the best if not the
best Windows news clients. There are several others. I'd suggest doing a
little Googling. And if you have questions, point your news client at
n.s.r. (news.software.readers if you ISPs news server carries it). But
you may find that few there will respond to postings from OE.

Thunderbird works well with a global newsserver filter on mi5.gov.uk
(the guy posts everywehere, automated, no doubt). That is, unless
someone starts a new thread, like yours :(

So I downloaded Thunderbird. How do I point the news group to this
feed?
