I have a few electrical gremlins at present on my 1999 CLK 320 Cabrio.
Firstly the dipping nearside mirror when reverse is selected has
stopped functioning. Secondly the features that moves the front seats
forward when the seat is tipped to access the rear is intermittent on
the drivers side and no longer functions on the passenger side and
finally, the door mounted seat controls on the drivers side move the
squab and backrest forward only, regardless of whether forward or
rearward is selected using the buttons!
I suspect these may all be related (apart from the dipping door
mirror?), perhaps wiring to the seats or an ECU somewhere? Can anyone
suggest where I should start my search for the solution?
Thanks in advance
Darren

Could this be that the right mirror is not selected (button not pushed
down) on the mirror contol? I know mine only functions in that
configuration per the manual.

I believe each seat functions completely independently of the other.
Do the presets on the driver side work? If so I would suspect that the
control contacts on the doors have become corroded and could use a
little electrical contact cleaner.

Yup, it was as simple as that!

from an MB forum I saw a suggestion to move the seat fully forward and
then back. That's resolved the issue of the seat switch and entry
assist for now at least!
Thanks for your help :)

NP.
I wonder if this is a result of the battery being changed or after
going flat? I know my sunroof and window "auto close" along with the
ABS needs to be reset (again, per the manual) after a battery
disconnect. I have not had a similar problem with the sets, however I
do not have the entry/exit feature in my sedan.
