Would anyone have a description/schematic of the vacuum system lines
for the 1979 W123 300D? At some point, someone cut a line and capped
it off with a wood screw, and I do not know where the line connects,
only that my door locks, cruise control and climate control vents do
not work.
All help will be appreciated.

You can try Ebay. I've seen a wide variety of manuals on there.
I'd probably go for the printed real MB manuals if you can find them,
as opposed to CD's. Both for convenience as well as I'm not sure
exactly what would be on CD's vs the genuine ones. If you're
planning on keeping the car, it's well worth the money.
With that vintage car, you're probably in for many hours of
investigation to get all those systems working again. You'll need a
Mighty-Vac or similar vacuum tester to use. You can find them at
auto parts stores or Ebay. And if the climate control system hasn't
worked in a long time, it's likely that there will be more wrong with
it than just the vacuum being disconnected. The climate control servo
and amp are notoriously failure prone.

My 300D '76 300D only had a vacuum pump, a brake assistant and a
headlamp control. Doors and vents were pure mechanical. The repair
manual 76-79 only mentions the pump, no sign of doors and cruise contol.
Maybe the cruise control and door opener for export models are vacuum
operated like here after '82.
First have a look behind the door paneels for rotten vacuum control
units. The lines are to be seen with door open. Air vents sometimes
close forever after taking a sip of Cola, beer or plant louse honey.

The line supplying vac for the doors go through the firewall on the
drivers side, works it's way under the dash, into the left side of the
driver footwell area and then goes into the drivers door via the hinge
area of the door. I think there should be at least 2 or 3 lines
there, one to bring vac from engine pump, others to run to other
doors. When you turn the key in driver's door, it opens driver door
and moves what they call a vac switch which is connected to drivers
lock and which then applies vac to other doors to lock/unlock them.
Since he has lines disconnected in engine compartment, instead of
taking door apart, he can probably start by tracing color coded lines
back from door hinge area to find the one that should be vac source
and make sure it's connected in engine compartment and has vac.
Of course, since someone disconnected major parts of the vac system
and plugged it off, it's likely there are leaks somewhere. In the
case of my vac lines, the failure point for my 2 problems was in the
area where the vac lines go through the rubber grommet at the driver
firewall. I had both the ignition shut off and door vac lines break
at that point. Just wiggling them a bit they can right apart at that
point.

I've got a couple of vacuum line diagrams for my 84 300D. Send me an
email and I can send you a few of them. I don't know if they will all
correspond to your year model, but you can try.
