Wife's 89 260E keeps blowing fuses.
She took it to the STEAL-ER-SHIP.
Told her "Needs Motor, Linkage, Transmission replaced".....$1600.00.
She told 'em to pound salt!!!
I will probably replace the motor myself. How tough of a job is it?
Any help would be greatly appricated.
Thank

If the motor is still turning the wiper around try first greasing all
elements of the wiper arm mechanism.
Hood to the vertical position. Remove winshield draining cover. Remove
the wiper arm cover. Grease springs, axis and the shifter cylinder and
piston.
If that doesn't help remove the lower part of the drainage (screws at
the windshield and in the middle below the axis, clips at the outer
side, attention with the middle plastic clips behind the motor, have a
look there first with lamp).
The rest is plug and play with three bolts and one cable.
For comparison of mounts take the old motor to the dealer, MB seems to
change the type without correcting their database or the dealer does not
take notice of the notes.

This is the single wiper, right? If the motor still turns, it is likely
good. Try to lublicate the transmission, especially the wiper "hub",
the big plate about the hand size. You need to remove the wiper arm
cover near the hub. Loose the bolt with hex key. Remove the arm, then
the hub cover can be removed.
