I've never been a fan of extended warranties... the biggest winner is
usually the one issuing it.  The shylock... er, purveyor and you will be
placing a wager with each other... they that you will experience so few
covered costs that it is enticingly impossible for them to not offer you
"protection"; you that the vehicle is such a piece of crap that you will
easily recoup the cost of the plan.

Save your money and buy a vehicle you trust, or better yet, (no offense
intended... honest! :o) one you can afford! While no guarantee, if the car
has consistently run well in the past (no major uh-ohs!), was maintained
well and not beaten to death,  it is not unreasonable to expect continued
reliability. sure there will be some aw-sh*ts along the way, but

If you do insist on "protecting" yourself though, read the fine print
carefully to determine precisely what is and is not covered, and who is
allowed to perform the work and authorize the repairs.

My (overpriced) 2?,

Paul
