Any advice on how to first of all remove plug wires, then remove plugs on
V-6,s used on '98 and later cars?  The plugs are hard to reach and the plug
wires have a large metal cap that extends into the spark plug cavities on
the heads.

Are there special tools for releasing the plug wires? Any suggestions on
type of wrench that would fit in tight engine space?

Yes, there is a special tool for removing the wires.  I believe that it cost
about $80.
