My car '80 300TD would not shift into high (40 mph max). Donor car is '81
300TD (what it says on the outside). While removing engine & tranny I says
to myself "this 300TD engine ain't got no turbo?" -- that's strange! The
engine was seized, the middle connecting rod came unglued and had the crank
in a bind, got it free enought to get the torque converter bolts out. So, I
have my tranny out, ready to pull my other car up and slip it in. As I
pulled my car up and to looked under it to scope out the situation, I
noticed that the trannies don't look alike -- different electrical
connections, the donor tranny has a part number ending in -85. Could this
be an '85 tranny? Its electrical connector appears to be in a straight
line. My original car has circular pattern, from what I can tell -- it
connects differently anyway. My question is -- can I successfully swap
these transmissions? Can I splice the connectors? The plug deal is just
park/ netural start and back-up lights -- correct? The kick-down wire is
separate. Got to get it together -- kid starts school in a week! Thanks.

The main diffrences in the two trans are, my car vacuum hookup is front Lf,
kick down (single wire) is in the rt rear. have not disconected the plug but
looks to be round
Donor tran has vacuum hook inRt rear, kick down RT front , plug is
rectanglar.
