Difference E220 hood

hi

Two Mercedes class E:

1. why does the front, hood, look different?
2. older model seems to look newer to me???
3. Does the  E220 Diesel Sedan -96 mean also it is a CDI?

Old and new version, new one since modelyear 2000.

No, that is no CDI, it has 70 kw = 95 PS.
220 CDI came in 1998.

not really. the old model has a bumper that looks like the ones on todays
class E models hence looks newer.
