Would 1972 230/250 parts, such as hubcap rings and hubcaps, and particularly
the grill, interchange with a 1973 W115 240D?

Have you tried http://www.mercedesshop.com/? Extremely helpful community of owners and DIYers plus many expert mechanics. You should be able to get all your questions answered in the FORUMS and they have a section where individuals can sell cars and parts (no dealers allowed). Try it out.

Sure. It's all the same stuff. 115 were diesel, 114 were gas, same body though,
although apparantly the 115 chassis has 8 or 9 extra spot welds on the body.
Other than that, identical.
