CLK350 release date in the US?

Does anyone have an idea as to when the CLK350 will be released in the
US? I read an article somewhere that it is due in early spring, but
have not been able to find any official information anywhere.  The
problem is that my current lease (330Ci) is up in the next couple
weeks.  I can manage holding off on buying a new car until June, at
the latest.  Does anyone know for certain if they will be available by
then?

Carsdirect has the CLK320 and CLK500 available below invoice right
now.  It?s a near certainty that the new models will be more expensive
and inflexible in terms of pricing, at least initially.  Without any
idea on when the car is actually going to be out, I?m at a total loss
in terms of what to do.  I can either buy a CLK320 below invoice now,
or pay somewhere near MSRP when the CLK350 is out.  With the slashed
price, even a CLK500 is an option right now.  However, I really like
the sportier look of the new models.

I could make a more informed decision if I had some more information
on release dates and initial availability.  Any suggestions?

Your dealer is the best bet for the latest info... otherwise call up MB
headquarter.

Hello,

Mercedes-Benz USA web site is often slow in updating the latest
information. It hasn't even mention the 2005 E55 Wagon yet even though
it was officially released for sale last November. The 2006 S65 finally
showed up in the web site last week after the announcement at the motor
show in Los Angeles (I think I might be wrong with auto show location)
last January. R-Class is taking the centre attention now.

You can always ask the dealer to order the CLK350 now to your
specification and have it delivered a few months later even though it is
not officially released yet. If the dealer doesn't have the ordering
specification yet, ask to put your name in the slot as soon as possible
and be alerted when it is time to order the specifications. This way,
you can hopefully anticipate the CLK350 sooner than later.

I can understand about wanting CLK350 over CLK500. I find the 5-litre V8
motor tired and overextended when comparing to competitor's V8 motors. I
didn't enjoy driving SL500 because of its shortcomings in dynamic.
Hopefully, Mercedes-Benz will replace it with new 5,5-litre 32-valve V8
in the new S-Class.

Regards,
Oliver

I'm in a similar situation- just turned in my 2002 BMW 330i and am looking
for a new car. The new 330 will be available within a few weeks according to
my dealer. The reviews have been favorable BUT the interior looks sooooo
boring. The dash is uninspired, unless you get the idrive/navigation package
which I hear is awful. I've looked at a CLK 320 which IMO is much better
looking. But I'm not too sure about the handling compared with the BMW. The
lease price quoted seemed a bit high (3ys, 12k/yr, sunroof- $620) but I
think there's room for negotiation. The MB dealer said the 350 wouldn't be
out until end of summer. Supposedly not much cosmetic change. Big difference
is the engine/HP.

Don't you also get a bit more room in the back in the CLK?
