Hi,
Recently purchased a 51 plate ML270 and after running it noticed that
the glow plug symbol on the dashboard stays on longer than normal on
the dash. After about 5 mins the glow plug symbol vanishes. Am
somewhat concerned as to what this means so any suggestions would be
appreciated.
Cheers

My E320CDI has suddenly started doing something similar. From cold the
glowplug light lights for the normal time of 5-8secs and then goes out; I
start the engine; after a second or so the light comes on again and stays
on, while the engine is running, for a minute or so.
I think the worst that can happen is that the glowplugs will burn out
prematurely, but they are relatively cheap to replace. However I would like
to know the underlying cause in case it is something sinister.

a burning glow plug symbol when the engine is running means one or more
glow plugs must be replaced, i suggest to replace them all at once

agreed - happened on mine after 100,000 miles - now runs much cleaner /
smoother
