I have a  1998 SLK 230. Does anyone know how to turn off the check engine
light?

Thanks for any help

Find a way to read the fault and then fix the problem.

You need to take it in to the dealer or an independant shop. There are no magic wands
or crystal balls on the internet.

Go to a local Autozone store and use their OBDII scanner to read and reset
the code.
