i have one that has oil in the coolant. i'am told that it never overheated.
had a water pump put on a short time ago. could the oil be coming from the
work on the water pump or maybe a blowen head gasket. if a blown head
gasket looking for pages on replacing the head gasket. thanks

Blown head gasket is the most probable cause, especially if the engine
has done 150K or more miles.

The head must be removed to replace the head gasket.

Measure the compression on all the cylinders before starting a long
project that you may not need.If one is substantially lower of the
others you may have a blown gasket.
Drop a small amount of #50 oil on the cylinder with lower compression,
if compression goes back to normal you may need rings and in that case
you also have to replace the gasket.

Not cylinder compression... but rather coolant system pressurization... if
pressure drops but no external leak... then you know.

Other possible source of oil is tranny oil cooler which is usually combined
with the radiator... if the seal is blown... then tranny fluid is mixing
with coolant.
