W140 series preferred engines

Hello

Which engines(excluding Diesel)are the preferred ones for W140 series.

What about the reliability and quality of W140?

Do they exceed the ones of Audi and BMW?

M120 for performance
M119 for moderate power
M104 for economy

Reliability of W140 are worse than all other MB.
