if I read kelley blue book values correctly (kbb.com), then an '86 300e with excellent
body condition and no major repairs should not cost above $3000 - is this correct?
(miles about 120k)
Location is factor, as is condition (condition becomes the most
important factor as a car ages).
KBB retail (in Calif) $3,875, Edmunds retail $3,881, private party $2,576

Buy the best quality car that you can for there's no senior discount for
old M-Bs, and these cars are very expensive to have fixed; the economics
of this age car only work well for DIY owners.
