I don't like the gas cap hanging down and putting scratches/scuffs in
my paint.  I thought about removing the leesh, but I don't want to lose
my gas cap.

So, I came up with this idea, received patent/trademark pending
protection and manufactured several thousand. I call my invention The
GasCap Caddy™.

Check it out. Take care.

You're right, some vehicles do some with something similar.  Some have
a leash and some have nothing at all - even within a particular
manufacturer it can vary between makes/models.  Thankfully, not all
cars come with a caddy device, in fact most don't.  And, when they do,
it's not an accessory device, which is what we're marketing.  The
beauty also being that whether you have a leesh or not (no caddy or
clip) The GasCap Caddy™ can work for you.

Take care, have a great new year.

That's cool, however all my MB's I ever owned have this feature already
built in the tank fill door.

This OP appeared on the Chrysler NG.

Yes, all Mercs have a caddy and I thought that most cars did.  Maybe it is
not so widespread among 'American' cars.  I am surprised that the promoter
thinks there is a need sufficiently great that it is commercially viable.

I agree with Dori. I own three MBs and have no need for the GasCap Caddy
on anyone of them. Model T Fords did not have the gas cap caddy. Their
owners could be prospective buyers for the device.

That's the entire point, to gain feedback from other automobile owners
about the likely hood to use/effectiveness The GasCap Caddy™ may
provide.  I simply do not have the resources to test/gain feedback for
all make/model vehicles and Newsgroups provide an effective avenue, for
information gathering.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, positive and negative.

Have an old '73 450SL ( European model) & it has no leash or anything else
for that matter. I simply put it on top of the fender, fill up, (forever it
seems), reattach the gas cap, close the lid & away I go! No problems.
Only real problem these days is cost of filling up!

Really?  Got legs?  Got a few bucks in your pocket?

Try taking a trip to your nearest big town and visiting a few showrooms.

Or are you going to chase the market in 20-year-old cars?

That advice will cost you 100 dollars...

Thanks for the feedback, DAS.  Please, keep it coming.  You may just
say something valuable, though I am sure it will not be anything other
than hypercritical.

Obviously, I have already used the research methods you so smartly
suggest.  Hence the desire to branch out, beyond what I can get to with
my legs.  Think of how many cars are on the road and, of those cars,
what percentage do you think actually have a similar device installed?
Can you really think that 20 year old cars represent the only market?

My friends *new* vehicles and findings from walking the *new* and used
car lots tell me otherwise (VW's, Honda, Scions, PT Cruisers, GMC
Denali's, Yukon's, Hummers and more representing virtually very other
manufacturer.)

Thanks anyway.  Regards
