anyone know?  eg, instead of writing E320 one often sees E320W and sometimes
E320WM and even E320W4M .... the latter I take is it four wheel drive

thanks and cheers, guenter

I'd assume the W refers to wagon (estate) and the 4M to 4Matic, not sure
about the M on it's own.

W is definitely not wagon... W is sedan and T is wagon... something to do
with german word for sedan and wagon.

M is probably 4Matic.

Fahrzeug-Baureihe verwendet.
Der erste Buchstabe charakterisiert die Aufbauvariante (A = Cabriolet, C
= Coupé, R = Roadster, S = Kombi, W = Limousine, V = Limousine langer
Radstand).
Die dreistellige Ziffernfolge beschreibt die Baureihe bzw.
Fahrzeugklasse. "W 140" bedeutet daher Limousine der von 1991 bis 1998
gebauten S-Klasse-Baureihe.

Body model characters

A = Cabriolet
    /Convertible,
C = Coupé,
R = Roadster,
S = Kombi
    /Wagon,
W = Limousine/Sedan,
V = Limousine langer Radstand
    /Sedan long wheelbase

this solves a lot of puzzles, except for 'M'.... I think it was Tiger that
noted that someone was probably being lazy and meant to write '4M' that could
be short for the 4 wheel drive feature.

cheers, guenter
