Could you please tell me if a winter tire advertised as TireWidth: 205,
AspectRatio: 70 and Diameter: R15 will fit on the standard rims that
came with the 1987 260E ?? I am looking at these ones:

Thanks.

Joseph,
I would be sceptical of Toyo's tires. In particular they claim a 'wider'
footprint will help in the snow. Hogwash.... if anything you want a narrower
tire to 'cut' through the snow to hard ground ...
cheers, guenter
ps what's wrong with good old Michelin winter tires... they've got a special
on if you buy all 4.

Nope.

The original tire size for your car is 205/65-15. 70 series tires are
too big. They WILL fit but handling will be terrible bordeing on dangerous,
they may rub when you go over speedbumbs or ramps and are just not a good idea.
You need to stick with tires that are within 2% of the orignal size.

No. will not fit. Personally I'd go one size smaller... 195/65R15... it is
acceptable. I would buy Nokian Hakkapelita snow tires instead... super long
lasting, incredible traction, and super quiet.

What he said. Hakkapelita are universally accepted as the best. Blizzaks are almost
as good but noisier. Keep in mind there's snow tires and theres snow tires, if you
drive in deep snow these are what you want, but, if you drive say, in the city
where there's not much snow ans thin icy sluch is more of a problem you might want
to consider the Michelin acric alpine whic his more of an "ice tire" than a "deep
snow" tires.
