Why is Alexander such a popular name?

Alexander "The Great" was just some dork who went around
killing people for power and wealth. His only claim to fame is that
he was quite successful at it.

It does have a nice ring to it......

And all this time , that Solitary "A" in your name was just an
enigma.....

That goes for most 'historical' heroes.

In fact our ancestors probably survived because they were better at
stealing and killing than others at some point.

Being able to run away (fast) from those that were better at killing
and stealing is a more likely survival scenario.
