I have a 2000 E320 CDi "Classic" with the pixel problem on the instrument
cluster.  The part number is A210-540-30-11.  I have the opportunity to
purchase the identical looking part (same dials, guages, LCD units, etc) but
for the Avantgarde model of the W210 E320 CDi with part number
A210-540-04-11.  Does anyone know if the new part will be compatible with my
car?

The vendor suggests that the only difference will be some colouring of the
dials, which I am happy to live with.  I know that the stealership or a
specialist will have to code the new unit for me, but I don't want to hand
over an unsuitable part and waste some cash in the process!

Many thanks in anticipation.

I have a A230 540 52 11 US model  from a SL500, that was removed when
the car was converted to Canadian standards. 12,000 miles. Like new.

We had that problem with the temp and time digit missing and had the dealer
replace the cluster for $750 total.
