Want to thank everyone who weighed in on my Neutral Safety Switch issue
I was having on the '95 MB.

Finally got up enough courage to take the beast to a mechanic ($$$$$$)
and it is now thought that the problem is that the bushings that hold
the shifter in place have disintergrated.  The bushings are nylon and
cost $0.27 each.  There are two of them.

Unfortunately, the drive shaft, muffler, back seat and all passengers
have to be removed along with the differential and front windshield to
replace the bushings.  I've ordered a NSS just to be on the safe side.
:-)

Thanks to all for the advice.

Unfortunately I didn't bookmark it but there is a page on the net that shows
how people do this repair from the underside of the car when it is up on
jackstands.  With small hands and a little patience it looks doable.  You
might want to do some Googling.
