I got 2 questions for your guys out there,
I was wondering what was the final drive of Balmoral mini vs a British
open, since the Balmoral was targeted for Germany?
And if you get new remote control for injection minis, how to you go
about programing the ECU to recognize the new remotes. I`ve heard that
you got to go to a dealer, here`s the hick...i`m in Canada. Can I tap
into the ECO via odb2 or something like that?
Any help with be appreciated
Thanks

The Balmoral was also sold here in France. It shares the same mechanicals as
the BO, including the loooooooong final drive (2.9:1 I think)

Rover didn't follow the ODB standard, but then again, SPI minis weren't
fitted with central locking as standard. The alarm was a dealer option and
I've never heard of central locking being fitted as standard.
Chances are your remote central locking was added to the car as an
aftermarket thing.

The German market Mini Balmoral wasn't a German version of the UK-spec
British Open Classic, its the European version of the Mini Sidewalk we got
in the UK, but the UK cars came in different colours to the European
versions. I would guess it shares the same spec mechanicals as the Mini
Sidewalk. It was also sold in Japan as the Mini Tartan, and at least one
Mini Tartan exists in the UK and explains the wacky tartan trim of the Mini
Sidewalk.....!
