Hi

I have a '94 1275 carb Sprite. It's badly in need of a new downpipe. I
duly ordered a new pipe, clamp and flange gasket from a Rover main
dealer.

Waited the obligatory eternity for it to turn up, but they are telling
me the flange gasket has been discontinued. Suggested I use exhaust
paste instead. Chap who was going to fit the new pipe says "no way,
Jose" without a new gasket.

Wondered if anybody else had had the same problem in appropriating a
gasket? Would imagine MG International or Minisport might have the
gasket, but I rarely get any sense out of either over the phone

This has been my story.

Thanks. Managed to locate one at an exhaust parts supplier.

Cheers

The Genuine front pipe is a waste of time, take it back & demand they give
you your money back as they are unable to supply you with all the parts you
needed, you can get a LCB performance exhaust manifold with fittment for a
lambda sensor & link pipe to the CAT cheaper than a OEM front pipe, mini
spares can supply these, both parts are included, part number C-AEG368, the
gasket between the CAT & the link pipe part number will be GEX7761, manifild
to cyl gasket part no C-AHT381,

Thanks for the pointer. Will bear this in mind for the future. But,
really,  I didn't want to mod this car. Went through all that with a
stage 2 MGB in the '80s. Could never get the right balance between
noise, evenly spread performance and mpg plus a continually breaking
joint between the Janspeed manifold and exhaust. Guess I'm just
getting old...:-)

(Though I do admit the standard exhust on the Mini does make it feel a
bit strangled sometimes - so you never know...)

Cheers
