Tyrant - 01 Jul 2004 20:46 GMT I have a K' reg, Mini Cooper 1.3i.
Its seems to idle at traffic lights at about 500rpm, and seems to chug a bit as if its running to low. Whats the ideal tickover rpm for this motor please...
I have a funny feeling it should be running a bit faster.
Many thanks Neil
Tim - 01 Jul 2004 22:30 GMT my 1.3mpi idles at about 700rpm...dont know if that helpfull?

Stuart - 02 Jul 2004 15:47 GMT Haynes manual says... 1969 on Twin SU HS2 Carb
Mini Cooper S Mk III 1275
idle speed 600rpm Fast idle speed 1000rpm
Taken from manual 1969 to 1996
Hope that helps

My 25 (standard 998 engine) idles at about 1200. If I blip the throttle it drops to about 750 but then gradually increases back to the 1200 level.
Any ideas on what could be the cause of this?

Suspect it might be the butterfly spindle that's worn.

Worth a try !!

Thats what my mates is set at and it's running fine.
Hope it helps
