Roof lining problems?

Hi all,

It took me days to fit the new roof lining to my Riley Elf earlier
this year. Those things are a real fiddle......

Anyway whilst overtaking a lorry on the dual carriageway near the
Whitbread Hop farm (Home of Southern Mini Days) the roof lining
suddenly caved in on me!

Both windows were open at the time and we were nudging a speeding
ticket from the boys in blue. I'm guessing that the slipstream that
you get from the really big trucks literally sucked the rooflining out
of place.

Anyway after a few choice swearwords and a detour to a garden centre
carpark it all just popped back into place with relatively little harm
done.

Apart from the obvious, to close the windows when going over 70 does
anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent this in the future?

Cheers,

Alan

I'm assuming it's the early type roof-lining that's fitted flush to the
roof?

Hi Taffy,

Elves and Hornets have the later Mini (mk2 onwards) type roof lining.
The one with the hoops and the vinyl covering that you have to stretch
and glue into place. I was really motoring at the time and it was
quite a shock. a bit like a roof mounted airbag going off!!

Cheers

Hold your arm against the roof whilst overtaking big trucks.

I've tried that...... there's now a greasy palm print on my pristine
roof lining......... Can't resist eating Kebabs while driving along!!
