COOL! I recently posted an article (see "what engine is it?"). the engine is
actually a 998 cooper! the pistons are flat with the raised "D" shape and
the number carved on the head is 12G295. the engine code is 99H833R H---.
Does anyone have a clue on the year of production of the engine? it's
supposed to be pretty old but looks like it has low mileage and is in very
good condition. The engine is complete, no parts missing except for the
starter motor. Was ?65 a good value?

The 998 with the engine prefix of 99H/ -/H was the 998 Cooper and was last
built in 1969.
So it would be prior to 1969 but not much older as it was not a Mk 1 prefix.

Michael.

Congratulations, damn good find that!  The head alone is almost worth the
purchase price.

Almost as good a bargain as the Mk1 Minivan I picked up a couple of weeks
ago for ?20...mind you the shell is way beyond repair, but lots of period
spares.  Anybody need anything?

Shaun.
