Hi
Can anyone help with a local source of flat, pancake,K&N, other more
freeflowing type air filters to fit a std 1.5 SU carb. on my 1275 HLE
Clubman?
All my search attempts for products mentioned on this group have
failed when I search locally.
Failing any positive responses, I will then try mail-order.

On a different note, I have sourced a used cooper-s type exhaust
branch and an inlet/exhaust manifold of which I'm about to "hack" the
exhaust side off.
Anybody know about this combination on a 1275 with a slightly upgraded
cam (dont know details) and 48mm freeflow exhaust?, I know it will
sound improved :)  ,will it actually improve performance?

Thanks in advance

I've bought a locally made pancake type paper filter. Any improvement to the
standard plastic housing steup?

Yep it will improve performance as long as you change the needle in the carb
(if you are using SU carb). The noise you get from the exhaust will frighten
the living S##T out of you at first but then you kinda get used to it LOL...

The looks you get from people when you drive past them is very amusing and
you'll get quite a few challengers to race you too...

Make sure you get the car onto a rolling road to set up the engine once you
stage one it (air filter, exhaust, needle) and you will find a much improved
performance, not sure of the exact figure of BHP tho, I assume around the
region of 85-95 BHP but don't know.

I staged one mine recentley on a 998cc and am getting around 50BHP and lots
of torque to scare the Corsa/Escort boys.......

Thanks for the added confidence you've given me. Can't wait to hear
how fast I can go.  :)))

Can MmM or anyone else please explain how a "rolling road" works?
I'm sure there must be another term for it locally as I've never heard
of it outside magazines and ng(s).

OK Angelo here goes...

A rolling road is basically 4 rollers that the operator straps the car to
and the rollers roll as you "drive" the car in a static position.

It gives better results for tuning than just the suck it and see we have all
done.

All this means is whilst the car thinks it is doing 70mph the operator can
adjust the engine whilst it's static and the engine is "loaded".

Best I can explain, sorry...
