My 69 aussie mini is leaking water inside fairly badly in wet weather, so I
followed the advice that's been given here in the past to find out where its
getting in, and it seems that its coming in through the doors.
The door seals are all new, but the seal along the window edge on the
outside is not the best.
I thought that water that gets through that seal is supposed to run to the
outside of the car through the holes in the bottom of the door.
I've been told that its too optimistic to expect that to work in a mini, and
that i just need to replace the seals and make the doors "waterproof"?
I'm quite happy to replace that seal, but if the drain holes are supposed to
work, then by replacing the seal i'm not really fixing the cause of the
problem...
any thoughts?

Yep... I'd replace ouside window seal. Also check that the drainage holes
under the door are not clogged up with dirt or rust

Also, if the car has internal door hinges, it may be the check strap seals.
The water gets down the pillar and out onto the floor.

Aussie Minis all have proper hinges, none of this ultra modern concealed
hinges nonsense!   8-)

lol...... do they always keep the vinyl check strap on the inside or did
they move over to the metal type in the door like the UK Mk3's?

I have no idea!
Remember, I was a Mokist, not a Mini owner, and I have no idea at all
about the finer points of UK MkIIIs!
