I have a Mini Cooper, K reg, 1.3i....
Its great but , it has its flaws.. It stopped the other day in the rain, and
wouldn't start for 3 days..

Anyone have top tips on how to improve the car..
I saw some guy that said something about wrapping some part of the engine in
a carrier bag to stop rain/ water gettign to it, but I cant remember which
part????

What are your top tips on making the mini much more reliable / better..

Many thanks

hi
always use rover ignition leads, more expensive but worth every penny in
the wet.

put a flat piece of plastic behind the grille about 8inches wide in front of
the dizzt to deflect water.

Not sure if you want stuff that's off the subject of electrics, but grease
nipples need regular greasing and are often overlooked, even by
professional garages. Rear drum brakes (and front if you have drums at the
front) need regular adjusting too.

Put in a honda engine ?

Pfff normally their are less problems with the injection cars in case of
rain. They did have the splash gaurd factory fit. I think that a full check
up could do miracles by your car.

I thought that injection models didn't have the spalsh guard. My P-Reg
Injection Cooper didn't, but someone might have removed it.

Anyway, yeah, get one if you don't have one, spray HT leads and dizzy
with WD-40 to drive out the water.

Keep the leads and distributor clean.

If you use WD40 this, after a while, collects dirt and stuff, attracts
moisture, stays on the electric's, hence short out and stop.
