sounds like an engine out job..

overheat could be low water in the rad ???/
or a head gasket ? is the oil filler cap sludgy when u take it off?

rumble sounds like either a clutch relese bearing or idle gear but hard to
say without listening.. does it go away when u put your foot on the clutch ?

Would that be Clubman and Thermostat?

Have you run a crud remover through the system?
Grab some from Repco/SuperCheap, follow instructions, worked well for me.
Also make sure you use some antifreeze/coolant - keeps corrosion in the
cooling system at bay.

Rumbling viabration? - Wheel bearings or cv joints perhaps...  or something
not done up quite tight enough?

Perhaps it's no the drivetrain but something like the bearings in the
generator/altenator going? or the water pump? I've had this before.

Unless you feel like removing parts one by one and checking for the noise -
I'd take it to a specialist suspension and steering place and see what they
can do you for you.

Have you checked that the fanbelt is tight that would cause it to
overheat.  Could also be that the timing is out if the car is to far
advanced that would make it overheat.  Have you got the heater on the
car that will cool it down,  Rumbling does it only happen above a
certain speed (get wheels balanced) or is it all the time could be a
bush in the suspension.  Does it do it when stationary or only when
you are moving?.

Overheating,
Possibly the outside surface of the rad is blocked with dirt etc, or could
also be the head gasket,

The rumbling vibration could be anything from a defective tyre, to a wheel
bearing,
