Bought a 1968 mini with a 1000 engine in it. The engine number starts with
99H791 According to a mini mania page this is an unleaded unit. It is set
up with a separate voltage regulator and generator and appears old. It does
have a later air cleaner. Can anyone direct me to a listing of engine
numbers?
Thanks!!

As I understand it, they didn't start using the 99H prefix until the
early 1970s, so pretty clearly either the car is newer....

Or more likely the engine has been replaced...

Along with the aircleaner and probably the carby. Is it an HS2 or an
HS4?

This is a unit from 1974 onwards with dished top pistons. It is not late
enough to be an unleaded engine (unless it has been modified).
