Real Minis don't have airbags - they have rubber cones or hydroelastic
displacers!
You might try alt.autos.newmini

Since all it does is fire teh airbag, chances are it's not polarity
sensitive.

Dont be so quick in refering people to alternative groups, Mini's have had
airbags fitted as standard since the early 90's for some markets and in the
UK since the late 90's.

The MPI (Multi Point Injection) Minis did have airbags, seatbelt
pretensioners and side impact bars, so trying alt.autos.newmini is
probably a waste of time.....
Can't help with the problem though ;-)

re-read Graham, it is a real Mini, a 1.3Mpi Rover Mini which did have an
airbag OK, so don't blast until you have the facts OK,,,BINIs are one thing
but to dis a Mini owner is quite somthing else ...geeezzzeeee

It is indeed a Rover mini, multipoint injection build in 2000 (the last year
of production).
But I guess that it could indeed be a 'fire' signal, not polarity sensitive.
Thanks for that thought.

Well, you could always connect it to a digital storage oscilloscope and
then drive the car into a wall ;-) just make sure your scope triggers,
as I doubt you would get chance to repeat the experiment......
