Wrong group to troll. Discussion on the chrysler-engined BMW thing goes

Yes, or Chrysler Neon which ever you preffer, oh and by the way its a MINI,
a Mini is a British Car built between August 1959 and October 2004, the
other 3 door hatch back is not, nor will it ever be a Mini...

Stop with the ridiculousness, they are both Minis. One is an original and
the other is a retro - sheesh. One would think Winston Churchill was being
unearthed.

However, what BMW needs to do is install the new Dodge Neon SRT4 engine in
the BINI.

One is a british icon designed by a visionary for the masses. The other
is a marketing product designed by a committee for the upper segment of
the yuppy market.

> However, what BMW needs to do is install the new Dodge Neon SRT4 engine in
> the BINI.

Yes, but they won't. Because Chrysler is Daimler is Mercedes and
Mercedes is BMW's archrival.

They did all they could when they bought Rover to drop the
Daimler-Chrysler engine (which was Rover's decision), but the design of
the New Mini was too advanced to swap engines at that time and nothing
else was available.

Instead, they are in a joint-venture with Peugeot to design and build a
range of small engines for the MINI and the low-end BMWs.

Get a grip Tim it's only a car and stop being thick. The best thing that
happened to your car industry ion UK was foreign intervention so I would be
grateful if I were you.

MINI was also written on many Minis and actually on my stupid 1972 Mayfair
reshell.

And how dare you call me a yank? Can we disagree and have a healthy car
hobbyist conversation without resorting to name calling?

1: Im not a Pom (IE from the UK)
2: Im not thick....I can read a boot badge
3: An American is a Yank.....same as an American Indian is a 1st Nation
person, or a Weslhman is often called a Taffy, and a New Zealander is a
Kiwi, and an Aussie is an Oker and the list gos on, its only offensive if
you choose to make it so.
4: Im a Kiwi and Mini owner for 30 years
5: Go tell Chrysler about foreign ownership
6: a Mini is still a Mini and a MINI is still a 3 door hatch back built by a
German company...past boot badges not with standing
7: we can all have our hobbies and interests, this has nothing to do with
FACTS as listed in 6 above

So then why did you call me a Yank? I never said I was offended I was just
curious why you would call me a yank.

A Mini is a Mini and a MINI is a retro Mini, both the same. The MINI was
designed by Rover a British company.

The MINI was designed whilst Rover was owned by BMW, the engine is from a
South American plant, the body was designed by an American...or Yanky
designer and its built in Cowley in the UK by German Management who are
building it there only to satisfy the UK Govt requirements they had to
fulfill becuase of the dumping of the Longbridge plant and work
force....which the UK Govt bailed them out of several times...

But to put the matter straight....

At no time did my thread "bag" the BMW Hatchback, I only stated a fact,
which is that the BMW version is called a MINI and not a Mini, its only the
over sensetive who have made it an issue, personaly I couldnt give a toss
about the MINI, I own and love my Minis....same way I don't give a toss
about Cortinas or other Fords, or indeed anyone of the hundreds of other
makes/models and brands out there.

"If it ain't a Mini then its just traffic"

It most definitely wasn't friendly.

I tend to feel a bit proprietary about this particular newsgroup,
since I created it on December 5th, 1996 and shepherded it through the
early rough times. Your "friendly chats" are not in private email;
they are in a public forum, used by Mini fans all over the world. You
obviously know this. This makes your statement about "poking my nose"
into your "friendly chats" more than a little suspect. If your object
is to belittle and insult people in the presence of their friends,
this is not the best place to do this, since the other participants
are not amused nor entertained.

It's not about what I think; it's about common courtesy and good taste.

> I hope you all are having a nice evening and a weekend ahead. I know I am.

I assume this is at least partly sarcasm, considering the other
content of the message. Too bad.

Tell me just one thing. Why do youdo this all the time, you lambast people

What don't you like other people having an opion that differs from yours, or
did you just have a very sad life and want to share it with us all as well?

If I was you I'd seek proffesional help for your problems, this is a Mini

visiting here for your amusement.

I think that from now on I'm just going to ignore any newsgroup that has

Please don't leave the group. If you don't know how to set your mail
reader to ignore people's posts you don't like, email me and I'll help
you. You obviously love the real Minis, so you belong with us. There's
no really effective way to police usenet, except to report the worst
abuses to the originating ISP. Often, as in this case, there's no
blatant abuse, just a bad attitude or obnoxious posting style. That's
when the "killfile" is useful.

It's not about liking or not liking. It's about you apparently
enjoying f.cking up a newsgroup by purposely stirring up rancor and
resentment. That's not an activity that recommends the perpetrator.

If there's no policeman to force you to behave as a gentleman, you
will then continue to piss on the floor of the clubhouse? This is
certainly not the way to win friends and influence people.

What exactly has got up your back? I suspect it's something from Real

There is a solution to this problem. I can request that all members of

use this newsgroup will happily comply. The other alternative is for
you to stop the continual attacks and bad attitude.

I am not going anywhere and will CONTINUE to participate on this forum as
long as I have Minis. So you Guys either learn to deal and get a grip or
killfile and avoid seeing my post.

But we do, unless we want to make special arrangements, which wastes
our time.

This is a Mini newsgroup. It's about cars, not sociopathic personality
defects.

Play nice; be courteous; stop purposely insulting and baiting the
other participants in order to show your contempt. What's hard about that?

Hi, Rocky,
The bloke's just an idiot, why not just killfile him. If everbody did that,
he would have no way to upset people.

If I use a killfile, I won't know what's going on in the group. I
would be more apt to stop reading the group, as I have done in the past.

BTW, mentioning him and calling him an idiot is not the best way to
let this drop.

Will he ever drop the matter, as long as there is someone to reply to his
comments he will not drop it.

Simple solution: don't reply.

The best answer on all this thread.

I will not stand for childish retorts against BMW Minis in this or any other
public forum.

My job here on this thread is done but I am sure someone will sink one into
the bees nest soon enough.

Adios to this thread.

I actually think people that use killfiles are doing themselves are
disfavor. What a lonely, pathetic world they coral themselves into by
limiting there exposure to those they agree with.

But that's just me.

A world without your bad attitude is not lonely nor pathetic. This
used to be a newsgroup about Minis until you started this pathological
persecution. I seriously doubt that I am the only person utilizing it
who is tired of the unnecessarily hateful posting.

Not important. It's common knowledge and was in the Mini magazines.
