Yes, but they won't. Because Chrysler is Daimler is Mercedes and Mercedes is BMW's archrival. They did all they could when they bought Rover to drop the Daimler-Chrysler engine (which was Rover's decision), but the design of the New Mini was too advanced to swap engines at that time and nothing else was available. Instead, they are in a joint-venture with Peugeot to design and build a range of small engines for the MINI and the low-end BMWs. I tend to feel a bit proprietary about this particular newsgroup, since I created it on December 5th, 1996 and shepherded it through the early rough times. Your "friendly chats" are not in private email; they are in a public forum, used by Mini fans all over the world. You obviously know this. This makes your statement about "poking my nose" into your "friendly chats" more than a little suspect. If your object is to belittle and insult people in the presence of their friends, this is not the best place to do this, since the other participants are not amused nor entertained.
