It has a slight twist, because it is an inline rather than a
transverse mounted motor, but other than that...
As you look at the back of the motor, on the left, stamped upside down
is the number "082" - this is a bit blurry, and could be a variant on
that.
Roughly in the middle of the block is "22L"
On the right hand side is "WFM" with "1025" stamped underneath that.
The engine serial number is "12V 639 ELZ 130615"
The crazy German engine search doesn't show anything...

Any help appreciated. Oh, and it is a New Zealand motor...

Well for starters from the pics the ribs on block mean its an A+ unit and
its probably safe to say that the 12 at the front of the engine number means
its a 1275cc lump. My guess as its an inline block is that it cam out of a
(in UK terms) Morris Ital - the last version of the Marina.

The PDF of engine numbers on
http://www.ime.org.uk/ime/e/BMC_MG_%26_Morris_Engine_Codes.html
tells me that it is
12 - a 1275cc engine
V - Vertical/Inline
From a Morris Marina.

Well, not really, its still a UK motor :)
Might have been assembled in NZ, but if it was that late is may well have
been a straight UK import.
