Hi
I recently took our open classic for MOT and had an interesting conversation
with the guy who tested it (a long time mini fan). The car has a cat but is
tested as a non cat car because of its age (1992).
Apparently when cats were first becoming the rage Rover jumped on the
bandwagon and put one on although the car has no engine management system
and labda probe to control it. From the emissions the cat does very little
although well within the test limits for a non cat car (which legally it
is). Well actually according to this guy it is doing quite a lot,
restricting the performance somewhat.
So now i am thinking ahead about what to put on when new exhaust time comes.
I am not a boy racer and do not want a tailpipe as big as the car itself.
And certainly don't want it to sound like a race meeting when i set off.
Has anyone any recommendations for a system, possibly stainless. Maybe even
centre exit.
any comments appreciated.

I'd recommend either a twin box RC40 or equivalent Maniflow twin box system.
Both flow much better than a standard exhaust but aren't too loud.

What about a Peco System,
stainless, everything except the front pipe, supply and fit,
