Hi all.
New owner of a 1989 mini in France, where I just moved to from Canada. As a
previous owner of a 79 TR7, which I just sold before leaving, I should have
known better. But, I couldn't resist the temptation to buy one as they are
not readily available in Canada. It is probably mayfair judging from VIN,
as there is no owners manual), and has a 998cc engine (yellow engine block,
can't find any other engine ID number I can identify.
Anyways, have the traditional oil leaks everyone is always talking about.
Believe one is from shifter rod, which looks super simple to fix. The
second in the same area may be from the drive shaft. It actually seems to
come from the boot. Anyways, if it turns out to be a driveshaft seal, can
anyone provide me with a simple how to, or point me to a website with good
instructions. Is the seal in the gearbox or inside of the boot, (CV joint).
thanks for any help

Seal is in the output flange on the gearbox. You will need to re-bush
the flange, or the new seal won't last very long.
Might as well do both flanges while you're at it.
