Hi,

I've just bought a 1989 (F reg) City, and I could do with some advice
about a couple of things.

According to the manual, 1989 was the crossover year for 4*/unleaded.
The stamp on my head says 99HD80 - can I safely run it on unleaded?
I'm using additives are the moment to be on the safe side.

I spent a frustrating day yesterday trying to tune the engine but the
points are past it so I am thinking about changing to electronic
ignition. A mechanic friend told me to use a dizzy from a Metro, but
would this work OK on a 998 engine?

Thanks!

Chris

You should be running on 4* but you could get away with running on unleaded,
the crossover point was really in 1991. You should be able to get away with
using a Metro dizzy but use the correct one for you're engine i.e 1000cc use
a 1000cc dizzy etc...

If you do intend on using unleaded either change the head for unleaded or
continue using your own until detonation of you original.....   Your choice
:)

Am not sure about your second point but I believe that you'd need an
engine no. that reads 99H/D81 or later to be ok on unleaded.
