Hi

I just noticed the temp guage on our 92 open classic is not working.  The
haynes manual doesn't appear to mention it (unless i missed it).

I looked on the thermostat housing where i expected to find the sender unit
but it just has a couple of vacuum pipes.

Any advice on troubleshooting appreciated.

Im racking my brains where the sender is located on the 92 model, did you
look above and to the right of number four spark plug?
I think it maybe there.....

Hi

Yeh there is something there, thought it might be the oil pressure switch
though.

cheers

On your model, the oil pressure switch should be located above the starter
motor I think? Its hard to remember, my mini runs the new style block and
everything has been moved around!!

Thanks

i will have a better look tomorrow in the daylight.  Will putting the sender
wire to earth test the guage.  Years ago the escort wiring doing this put
the guage to max.

cheers

gary

test the guage itself (

When you find it, pull the wire off,
short the wire to earth with ignition on, and watch the gauge,
if the gauge goes up to HOT , then the sender is faulty,

could be that you just need to Jiggle the connector around, ??
