Hi all!
I need some informations about my car and hope you can help me. I've
asked the rover dealer about the factory specs but he could not find
any useful data. VIN number is: SAXXL2S1S21507561
It's a 998cc with SU HS4 carb and an open loop catalyst system, but
now without. (I'm its 4° owner!). There is a strange vacuum valve on
the thermostat housing that I've never seen on others A series
engines. I need to fit a catalyst, and I've found on the internet
catalogs these items:
GEX12054 Downpipe assembly exhaust system automatic
GEX8026 Catalytic converter engine exhaust
WEB10057 Heatshield catalyst
GEX33519 Rear assembly exhaust system
Are the right items for the stock configuration?
And is possible to fit an SPi or MPi system on a 99H engine to match
the more restrictives anti-pollution directives with a closed loop and
lambda sensor cat system? I'm not interested in performances at all,
as I use my mini only in city traffic at slow speeds.
Another question is about an oil leak from the driveshafts. My
mechanic has replaced the left seal, and told me that the job was not
so easy as he supposed. And now it leaks again and more, after only
500km. Maybe something has gone wrong? I've searched the internet
again and I've found that both the seal and the bush need to be
replaced. Is this true? And are ADU5738 and 2A3538 the right codes for
respectively the seal and the bush? I've found these codes on the
online rover catalog, but it shows only fiches for 1300 model, and the
minispares website, about the ADU5738 says: "SEAL,FOR THE OUTPUT SHAFT
ON ALL MINIS EXCEPT COOPER S AND AUTOMATICS"
I'm really confused! Thanks in advance for replies, and excuse me for
my funny english and for the long post.
ciao!

Unlikely to be simple because the motor capacity is so different. Unless
you're up to reprogramming... etc, stick to the 998 carby.

Mini auto gearbox is COMPLETLY UNRELATED to the manual gearbox.
The drive shaft seals are not the same.
