I dont think you got a Cooper head m8.
It sounds more like a 1300 head from a 1275GT or A+ 1300 MG
I could be wrong but I got me the same head and it came off a 1300MG Metro
The better educated than me could probably guide you better, as I say, I
could be wrong.
The head you got will fit onto a 998 block coz thats what im gonna do with
the one I have, If it is a 1300 head then you will probably be able to get
the replacement valves form a scrapper or from a head/block shop.
Where are you at (UK, USA, NZ or OZ?)

Hi,
The head you have is a 998 cooper head. They are getting quite rare now.

minisport or mini spares should have the bits, if your going to use it with
unleaded you should get hardened valve seats fitted too,
http://www.minisport.com/?uilang=1
http://www.minispares.com/Shop.aspx?ccid=14
they ship worldwide too,
Steve.

The original 997 was the 12g202. These were commonly replaced with the
12G295 which is the later and better 998 Cooper head. These were also
used on the 1100 series. 12G295 is the best of the small bore heads
and in modified form has some advantages over the 1300 head on a small
bore engine for anything less than full race.
Have a look at Theo van den Bogaard's site:
http://drcwww.uvt.nl/~bogaard/heads.htmhttp://drcwww.uvt.nl/~bogaard/heads.htm
Parts are commonly available from Mini and Austin Healy Sprite
dealers.
Cheers,
Kelley

hiya
12g295 head is so common it would be cheaper to just get a new one from a
scrappy.

Let us all know the name of the scrappy that has loads of 12G295 heads!

I haven't seen a 12G295 in a scrapyard for a very long time! (Plenty of
ordinary A+ 998 heads, but not 12G295)
