I have replaced a couple of rear valances. Both involved repairs to the
bumper flange and rear of the boot floor. It was made easier as the
subframe was off.

One involved replacing a portion of the panel in the rear hinge area. I cut
down a repair panel as only the bottom half of the area had disappeared.
See weeks 3 through 9 of my restoration project.
I had very little experience of this welding and body work prior to this,
but I had a college tutor to advise me at all times.
I beleive the work involved is not too hard but can take quite a while.
Anyway I'm on my way to MiniSport today to pick up the engine for my project
(got to do the family shop at morrisons first though!).
Cheers

I cut away everything from, and including, the hinge area down,
and into the boot floor as well. The panels (valance, valance
closing panels, hinge panel, boot floor) were, I'm sure, Hadrian
bought from Mini's With Attitude.
All of this was my first attempt at cutting, welding etc and although
it's not perfect, I'm pretty pleased with it. A bit of pushing and so
on to get everything lined up. Only drawback, and I didn't notice
until it was too late, is that the valance closing panel sits back from
the line of the wheelarch, the the arch curves down then there's a
step.
Not sure how I managed this - maybe me, maybe panels, but I've
got Heritage wings and front panel lying waiting for the next phase
just in case! I'm hoping arch extentions will hide the wee flaw...
